20-year-old Steve Williams Jnr. is a Ghanaian-bred Toronto-based creative — who has managed to tap into the fullness of his artistry.
The intentionality behind his creative expression has made him a storyteller of some sort, telling beautiful stories from his own experiences and the stories of others. Steve hopes to attain some level of interconnectivity with his art form — he enjoys the moments during and the impact it leaves after.
His introduction to the arts, although unintentional, was a remedy of some kind and he hopes to translate this into the lives of others.
He is well-versed in different avenues of photography including but not limited to editorial, conceptual and commercial.
We would like to know what inspires you?
I’m inspired by God, as well as everything around me during the time period of my creative process, this includes the people around me, how I’m feeling, the music I’m listening to, and the main subject matter of my life. Sometimes, an idea just pops into my head and I just have the burning desire to actualize it into my reality.
What your dream project is?
Honestly, I think in a way, I have already created my dream project. I created my dream project and I will continue to create my dream project. I want it to be that every project that Iay my hands-on possesses the energy of self-actualization.
What are you struggling with right now?
I think I struggle sometimes with perfectionism. It’s a blessing and a curse frankly. Sometimes I get in my head and feel like my work just isn’t cutting it to my standards but I’ve been working on this by just allowing every single thing that I do to feel fun, that way there’s no pressure, and I can actually CREATE.
Who you would love to work with?
I would love to work with Solange, I feel like that would be a full-circle moment for me. I would also love to work more with high fashion brands on conceptual photography! I know that it’s only a matter of time before I do!!
He hopes to take his artistry to newer heights and would love to pull you along for the ride!
