My full name is Shedrack Roy Caxton Danjuma, I’m a 20 years old Dancer from Kaduna state in the Northern part of Nigeria.
I grew up in a family of creatives, I fell in love with dance and art from an early age and began posting my dance clips on Facebook back in 2016
Can you describe to us your style and influences?
My style of dance was influenced by People like Toosie and sheloves meechie,I’d like to categorize myself as a new generation trap/alternative dancer.
I take great inspiration from people around me and I am happy that we got to usher in something different to the dance scene.
Describe the best performance you’ve ever put on. What did you learn from it?
The best performance I’ve ever had was in my first year of uni, the energy was up for real after the whole set, I learned valuable lessons about building my confidence while being on stage.
What are the most important traits a dancer should have?
It has to be trusting in your own moves and a great amount of consistency.
Have you ever forgotten the dance steps during a performance? What happened?
I really have forgotten a lot of routines while performing, it was really embarrassing and unprofessional but regardless you have to follow through and keep it going.
Biggest challenge as a dancer?
Dancers really go through tremendous challenges that won’t make it to the internet, from security guards not letting you use locations,
coming up with new stuff and ideas that are different from your previous ones, shooting and editing costs, and the endless list of challenges that
dancers have to overcome what comes with the craft.
How can we push and advocate more dance culture in our society?
To be honest, we need more Agencies that are really genuinely ready to help talents grow, and we definitely need more artists to appreciate the effort and the vital role dancers play in promoting songs.
